On 26th June 2025, the Large Engine Competence Center hosted in cooperation with the Hamburg Port Authority the 6th LEC Sustainable Shipping Technologies Forum. The Forum convened leading actors in the shipping industry with the objective of accelerating the transition to a zero-emission future. Key topics of this edition were:
- Advances in marine technologies to enhance sustainability
- Design and retrofitting of maritime and inland waterway vessels
- Digitalisation of port and ship operations
- Safety considerations for new technologies and alternative fuels
For the second consecutive year, Innovation Action SYNERGETICS participated in this leading platform for green shipping innovation.
A notable highlight of the Session II – “Design and education for green transformation” was the presentation given by Gianluca Giurco and Cristian Chirita from SYNERGETICS partners MARIN and viadonau. The insightful overview of the Demonstrator 6 – Bad Deutsch Altenburg, with particular emphasis on the significance of digital tools in identifying the optimal greening retrofit solution for inland and coastal vessels, was highly appreciated by the vast audience, attending the forum in person or online.
